Hoooray ... Mr Santa is here

Time flies. Sedar tak sedar dah over a year aku tak update blog ni. Hangat2 tahi ayam. Puiiii!!!

Anyway, that's not the purpose of this entry. That 1 liner is just to express my disappointment and frustration to myself.

The purpose of this entry is because today is not an ordinary Monday. My colleague (friend actually) from the States comes to KL for working trip. And as usual, he plays Santa for all of us here. The only difference is, Santa gives out present (read: for free), but of course he is just a delivery boy for stuff that we ordered and paid earlier. For that, I am thankful and really appreciate his effort. Thanks bro!

OK so let's see what's there for me. Basically camera accessories for my Sony RX100 M3. This is just an appetiser. Hope to write some product review in next entry :) (harap2 bukan another hangat2 tahi ayam)

So here's the list.
1. AG-R2 camera grip
2. ACCDCBX battery & charger kit
3. Lens Pen
4. PNY 32GB SDHC UHS1 SD card
5. Lowepro Dashpoint 10
6. Vello screen protector (for RX100 M3)
7. Joby Gorillapod Hybrid

Oh ... by the way, all these items bought at B&H Photo (http://www.bhphotovideo.com). Initially tried to buy from Cameta Camera (http://www.cameta.com) but unfortunately they require item to be shipped to only Paypal confirmed address and Malaysian CC is not accepted **sigh** Cameta do gives better deal (in term of freebies) tetapi apakan daya, tak boleh order from Malaysia.

Pen off for now.

All in all, satu je yang aku nak pesan: Ingatlah, sebahagian daripada rezeki kita adalah hak milik orang lain...

So bawah ni adalah post yang aku maksudkan tu. Credit to the original poster, and mintak halal tumpang post kat sini.

I watched from inside McD's play place, saudara ni mengetuk BMW, Merc, Camry dan kereta2 mewah sewaktu dengannya yg beratur di Drive thru. SATU JAM berlalu, matahari maki perit, tak sorang pun sudi beli.

Setelah pasang niat moga diberi kesempatan untuk membantu saudara ni sekadar yg mampu, I searched for him on my way out but

couldn't find. Surprisingly he was near my car (on the other side of the drive thru lane) when I wanted to go home.

Keropok RM20/packet, kalau beli dua RM35 katanya. Sementara sy membuka purse nak keluarkan RM35, saudara ni sempat memberi nasihat, yg 'anak itu harto Allah bagi kat kito, keno jago memolek'. Dia mintak maaf bukan niat nak beri ceramah, sy kata tak perlu minta maaf, kita kena saling mengingatkan. Sy tanya abang ada anak? Anaknya 3 org di kampung. Dia merantau mencari rezeki.

Bila sy bgtau sy nk beli 2 paket, dia tunduk mencari2, sy perasan bajunya dah byk bertampal2. Kain jubahnya lusuh sekali. Maaf ckp, kalau dirumah sy dah jadi kain buruk.

Dia terduduk. Terus sebak teresak2. Sy tergamam. Passerby started staring. Dalam sedu dia kata 'timo kasihlah dik. susohnyo nok cari rezeki untuk anok2...make minum pun tak tentu'...sebak sendunya makin kuat...Allah sj yg tahu apa yg dia rasa. Berejam di tgh panas, minta belas org2 berada yg duduk dlm kereta aircond, tak sorang pun sudi membantu. Bukan minta sedekah, dia ikhtiar sekadar kemampuan dia.

Sy cuba beri seidikit peringatan buat dia dan diri sy.
'Jange sedih abe. Kito ado Allah, tak po lah kito miskin didunio pong, yg penting akhirat kito kayo. Biarlah kok oghre nok kato lagu mano pong, asalke Allah tok hino kito...sabar deh...Allah ado...cukuplah Allah buat kita abe...HasbiaAllah'

Dia masih sebak, sy tak tahan terus masuk kereta dan menangis sepuas2nya dlm kereta.

Anak2ku ....... & ......., kalau jumpa saudara kita yg berusaha keras mencari rezeki mcm pakcik ni, bantulah sekadar mampu. Biarpun kita tak makan keropok yg dia jual, boleh je sedekahkan kat jiran ke, saudara mara ke, pak guard ke, hatta tol booth operator pun kita boleh bersedekah (kalau dah tak suka apa yg dijual). Tak makan bukan alasan untuk tidak membantu. Janji kita bantu pulihkan semangat yg menjual, untuk berusaha lagi mencari rezeki dgn cara yg halal. RM10-20 is nothing to us, but it could mean with or without rice for the day for them. Rezeki Allah bg untuk kita agih2kan, bukan untuk disimpan sampai jadi gunung.

Berkongsi cerita bukan nak bermegah dgn RM15 yg sy sedekah, tapi untuk membuka mata hati diri ini 7 yg sudi membaca. Semoga Allah jauhkan diri ini, anak2, suami & semua umat dari sifat ujub & riak, amin ya Rabbi.

Wallahua'lam. Fakir illa Rabbi, "Original Poster"

iOS6 tethered jailbreak and the issues

To those jailbreakers out there, if you are thinking of jailbreaking your A4 device using iOS6 + tethered jailbreak - PLEASE, THINK AGAIN!!!

The reason I said so is because I have encountered too many problems with JB this time and each time you encountered this problem, it will reboot. So you need to boot it tethered again. Which is quite a pain in the @$$....Mind you, I have been JB my phone (3GS) since its first launched so I pretty much know what I'm doing. Except this time there's too much effort that I think it overweighs the enjoyment of JB.

Anyway...to those who interested to JB your A4 devices on iOS6, you can find the instructions here:

http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak-ios-6-iphone-and-ipod-touch-a4-based-only-using-redsn0w-tutorial/

So now let me tell you what kind of issues that I was having.

FIRST ISSUE: something happened that I need to restore my phone and erase my JB.
1. My first attempt to JB was successful w/out any issues. However, something happened (I can't recall) that triggered my phone to be restored. Yup, restore is the only option...d@mn.

SECOND ISSUE: SSH was not installed properly during JB process.
2. Since I need to restore my phone, my first time JB is gone. So I gotta do 2nd JB after restore. And if you do not know, this JB version (redsn0w 0.9.13 dev4) does  not install Cydia automatically. You have to do it separately on your own via SSH. So I did what I did during my first JB. Unfortunately, I got below error message:

Connection refused upon SSH connection
With some readings on how to resolve this issue, it is clear to me that the SSH was not installed properly during this 2nd JB. If it is, I should not be having this issue as what had happened during my 1st JB.

THIRD ISSUE: Unable to connect through SSH...due to some RSA key?
3. So, 3rd JB now. That is the only way to get the SSH to be installed properly. So I did a 3rd JB and reach to the point to install Cydia. Yet, another error message...

RSA key incorrect???
OK, I admit that the above error is something new and beyond my understanding. But again, with some hard works and A LOT of readings, I managed to solve it. Refer this post for the solution: "Solving "Warning: Remote Host Identification Has Changed!"".

FOURTH ISSUE: Stuck at the Apple logo valley of death...unstable JB?
4. So everything was good for the JB process. Today, I downloaded SBSettings from Cydia and installed it. Finish installing, the phone was rebooting. And now....it stuck at the Apple logo valley of death ~sigh.... Some says that you need to enter DFU mode and then restore your phone. What, again? Another JB? But hold on fellas...hard reset would do. See this instructions if you are not sure how to perform hard reset: http://www.wikihow.com/Hard-Reset-an-iPhone

FIFTH ISSUE: Installous does not load human verification page...only white blank page.
5. Last but not least...I have been using Installous and somehow it does not show up the human verification page. What I got is only a blank white page. I have so far yet to manage to overcome this. Should you know what to do.....kindly share =)

Conclusion:
All in all, I would say if you are using jailbroken iOS5 device right now and thinking to upgrade to jailbroken iOS6, maybe you need to think again as my opinion is that, the hassles that you need to go through outweighs its benefit. And did I mention about not many Cydia apps are iOS6 compatible yet? So if I were you, the best bet right now is to sit back, relax, and wait for few more weeks for an untethered JB to be released and to let those developers to fine tune their apps for iOS6.

Solving "Warning: Remote Host Identification Has Changed!"

If you are using Terminal, and are trying to connect to your i-device via SSH, and you are stuck with below error:

Don't panic! It is possible, but nobody is doing something nasty...except YOU!

How to solve this?

It is pretty simple, you just need to get to /Users/[username]/.ssh/known_hosts and empty the RSA key value in the file -- in other words, empty the known_hosts file. Below is step-by-step instructions on how to do so:

1. Open your "Finder" window.

2. Locate the "~/.ssh/" folder
In your "Finder" window --> select "Go" --> select "Go to folder..."

3. Key in "~/.ssh" into the field. Hit "Go" to continue.

4. Now you are in "/Users/[username]/.ssh/" folder. Open file "known_hosts" by double clicking it (or) use "Open with..." and choose "TextEdit".

5. Empty the file by deleting eveything in it -- "Select All" --> hit "delete" button.
My file only has one IP address. That is the device that I want to connect to. IF you have more than 1 IP address, try delete the portion of the IP address that belongs to the device that you want to connect to and leave others intact.

6. Hit "File" --> "Save" (or) "Alt+S" and you are good to go...

Hope this helps. Let me know if there is any caveat to this...

Mula2 aku plan nak share video2 time aku study dulu. Konon nak tunjuk cara hidup belajar di negara orang. Then boleh la cerita and berdiskusi pasal which path to take after PMR then terus sampai ke ambang kerjaya. Tapi takut diorang tak minat dengan personal life cikgu dia pulak. So aku cancel idea ni.

Tapi aku still nak simpan tema kerjaya, which path to take, career in science etc. Tapi setelah cari2 bahan dekat Youtube, sekali lagi, menghampakan. So nak tak nak aku terpaksa lah lupakan tema ni.

Nasib baik dok dalam cari2 bahan dekat Youtube ni aku terjumpa channel Ted-Education. Bagi yang biasa dengan Ted ni, diorang ada banyak series of talk show and division. Contohnya Ted-talk, Ted-Fellows, Ted-Youth etc. Mostly is talk show. Kalau talk show semata2 bosan la jugak kan. Tapi bila tengok2 rupanya sangat OK. Aku pilih Ted-Education ni sebab:

1. Menepati kehendak aku yang mencari material yang Science-related.
2. Video length yang sesuai. 6-10 mins untuk satu2 video. Jadi kalau tunjuk 5 video cukup lah pengisian untuk satu kelas.
3. Topik yang dibincangkan adalah sangat menarik.
5. Contents dia aku rasa memang target mid-high school punya level. So untuk PMR bagus sangatlah tu.

So aku pun cerita la pasal myth 7 kali lipatan ni dan world record berapa lipatan. Kemudian aku pun tunjuk video dari Mythbuster bawah ni:

Lepas habis tunjuk video Mythbuster ni, aku pun cerita pasal Britney Gallivan. Semua ni dia achieve time die junior in high school. Isk, kagum aku. Time aku junior dekat high-school aku tak tau apa lagi. So untuk bacaan lanjut, sila klik link dekat nama dia kat atas tadi ya.

An upper bound and a close approximation of the actual paper width needed for alternate-direction folding is

W = \pi t 2^{(3/2)\left(n-1\right)}.
For single-direction folding (using a long strip of paper), the exact required strip length L is

L = \frac{\pi t}{6}\left(2^{n}+4\right)\left(2^{n}-1\right),
where t represents the thickness of the material to be folded, W is the width of a square piece of paper, L is the length of a paper piece to be folded in only one direction and n represents the number of folds desired.

Lepas aku cerita pasal Britney Gallivan, aku pun start dengan Ted-Education: How folding paper can get you to the Moon? video:

Interestingly, it only takes 45 folds untuk sampai ke bulan.

Diorang cukup suka aktiviti folding paper and bila tengok video pasal Mythbuster and how folding paper can get you to the moon tu. Last aku bagi pada how small is an atom.

CIMB Clicks cannot login - "General transaction error"

Today - Wednesday, 23 May 2012, 830pm, I tried to login into CIMB Clicks website and I got "General transaction error".

Erk, wadahel? Is there something wrong with my account? My user ID? My browser? FYI...I am using Safari Version 4.1.3 (4533.19.4) on an iMac.

CIMB Clicks "General transaction error" upon login

So, I turned to my iPhone and tried my CIMB Clicks application. Results = OK.
I can check my account balance just fine. That means there's nothing wrong with my account.

Then, I tried to login to CIMB Clicks mobile website from my iPhone. Who knows that only desktop version is having problem or something wrong with my browser? Results = as per screenshot below.

Mobile CIMB Clicks notification - Service unavailable

Oh, finally! The service is unavailable at the moment - or as CIMB puts it "temporarily not available". I wish CIMB had put the same notification on their desktop website as well so that they could save me (and perhaps you and others) all this trouble of finding out what actually happened. And maybe some of you already did call them to ask about this.

Erk...wadahel la CIMB?

72 Heritage Cafe, Kota Kemuning

Seperti mana blog2 orang lain, aku pun nak buat review pasal tempat makan jugak.

So last Thursday I had a chance to have lunch at 72 Heritage Cafe which is located at Kota Kemuning. Kira nya selesa la untuk having a good lunch and an upgrade bagi aku yang hari2 layan nasi campur kat kedai makan biasa je. Kalau nak bawak business prospect ke pun boleh, ambient dia not bad. Cuma tak ada aircond je lah. Tapi one plus point, dia ada UniFi (wifi). So boleh surf dengan lajunyaaaaa...

Yang ada peti2 kaca tu is where the counter is located

In term of space, kedai ni agak kecik jugak la. Size one shop lot. You can judge it yourself based on pictures above. Aku datang dua kereta (8 orang). Satu group duduk dalam, and another group duduk luar. Reason 1) sebab tak dapat meja yang cukup besar untuk seat kitorang semua dekat dalam, 2) member2 aku prefer duduk luar so that boleh smoking. Time kitorang sampai tu agak full house, so that's why tak boleh nak combine meja.

Dekat luar cafe ni ada dihiasi dengan sebuah beca, and dia gantung Menu of the Day dekat situ. Ada budak2 suka la dok main panjat2 atas beca ni.

Beca dekat luar cafe
Budak2 tengah dok main panjat2 beca

Hari yang aku datang tu Menu of the Day dia as dalam picture lah. So aku order Tom Yam Fried Rice. Rasa? Hmmm...not bad. It is not something yang kalau aku stay at Ampang aku akan sanggup travel to Kota Kemuning semata2 nak makan Tom Yam Fried Rice dia. Nope, not to that standard. But I will definitely add this cafe in my "Places to have lunch" list (FYI...aku kerja dekat Shah Alam dekat2 Proton Hicom tu). So this can be added to yours as well to add variety to your food places. Bawah ni aku sajikan dengan gambar Tom Yam Fried Rice aku. Yummy...yummy...

Tom yam fried rice
Tom yam fried rice + sirap selasih

Service? Agak slow. We only get our food after 20-30mins or so. But I am giving benefit of the doubt to the owner sebab time kitorang datang tu agak full house and ramai yang belum dapat makanan. Aku rasa owner ni buat order based on meja...that including air and appetizers I assume. Reason sebabnya after 20 mins ambik order air and appetizers kitorang still tak sampai2 lagi. Then bila air + appetizers sampai, main course menyusul in less than 10 mins. Kebiasaan nya even main dish sampai lambat pun drinks + appetizers akan sampai lepas 5-10mins ambik order ye tak? Anyway, pak cik yang ambik order ni (white haired guy, baby blue shirt dalam gambar "Interior view #2" above), which aku rasa the owner, is quite a nice chap and follow the rules kind of person. So tak ada masalah korang tak puas hati "Eh, meja sana datang lambat, kenapa order dia sampai dulu?". Ehehe. Kisahnya, sebab waktu kitorang baru2 sampai tu, dia ada lalu kat sebelah meja kitorang. So kitorang panggil la untuk ambik order. So dia kata kitorang kena follow queue. Ok lah...fair enough, and aku rasa kalau aku pun jadi meja kat dalam tu aku tak nak orang yang datang lambat kena layan dulu. No qualm on that. In fact aku nak bagi plus point kat pokcik ni sebab ada principle =)

Pricing berpatutan. Boleh dikatakan murah. Untuk tom yam fried rice aku harga RM6.80 je. Ada tulis kat menu of the day board dia. Mahal la sikit compare makan dekat food court or kedai nasi campur biasa kan. Tapi bila pikir2 balik, kadang2 aku makan nasi campur pun jejak gak harga RM7.00. So apa yang kitorang order? 3x Tom yam fried rice, 1x sirap ais, 1x sirap selasih, 1x teh o beng, 1x fried wanton (6pcs) = RM 33.40. Makan 3 orang. So ok la tu kan? Dalam menu dia ada la jugak Western, and as usual, Western food ranging around RM10 per dish. Itu pun standard la kan?

Last but not least...parking. Pada yang risau pasal parking, don't worry, there's plenty of parking available. In fact, kitorang datang time peak hours lunch ni pun dapat parking betul2 depan kedai. Memang banyak. Tapi tak berani nak cakap la kalau time weekends or dinner macam mana kan. In terms of reachability, aku letak map dekat bawah ni.

Overall feeling? Aku won't hesitate kalau ada sesapa ajak aku makan sini lagi. Rasa sedap, pricing OK, ambient and environment agak comfy...so give it a try fellas!
